Factory Reset Wisnet Camera

Before you start — important notes

  • Factory reset wipes everything (network, users, VMS links, event rules, apps). Back up any settings if you can. (Hanwha Vision Support)

  • Have Ethernet/PoE available and a laptop on the same network (or set a static IP if you need to reach the camera after reset). (Network Webcams)

  • The reset button is usually recessed (often blue/white) — you may need a paperclip or small pin to press it. Check your model’s manual for the exact location. (Hanwha Vision Support)

Method A — Hardware (physical) factory reset (typical / works if you’ve lost the password)

  1. Power the camera on (PoE or power injector/supply).

  2. Find the reset button (recessed; often under the dome or a weather cover). Use a paperclip/pin. (Hanwha Vision Support)

  3. Press and hold the RESET button for ~5 seconds while the unit is powered on (do not perform this during the boot sequence — press while steady powered). Release after about 5 seconds. (Hanwha Vision Support)

  4. The camera will reboot and restore factory defaults. Wait 1–2 minutes for the camera to come back up.

  5. After reboot the camera typically reverts to DHCP (network settings defaulted). Use Wisenet Device Manager or your DHCP server to find the new address. (Network Webcams)

Method B — Software (web interface) factory reset

  1. Log in to the camera’s web interface (enter IP in browser).

  2. Navigate to Settings / System / Maintenance (or similar; exact menu names vary by model).

  3. Click Restore Factory Defaults or Reset, confirm the warning. The camera will reboot and clear settings. (Hanwha Vision)

What to expect after the reset

  • All custom settings are gone (users, passwords, VMS links, schedules, storage settings). You’ll typically need to re-run initial setup. (Hanwha Vision Support)

  • If no DHCP exists on the network, the camera may not get an address — use Wisenet Device Manager (or the camera’s discovery tool) to locate it and assign an IP. (Network Webcams)

  • Many Wisenet devices will show a “Need password” or similar state after a factory reset; Device Manager or the web viewer can be used to set a new admin password. (Pipl Systems)

Quick troubleshooting

  • Reset didn’t work on first try? Confirm you held the recessed button long enough (5 seconds) while the camera was powered. Some non-official guides mention longer holds (10–15s) for certain units — if 5s fails, check the model manual before trying a longer hold. (Video Experts Group)

  • Button hard to access (sealed dome/weatherproofing): follow the model manual to remove the dome/cover safely — don’t force anything that could void warranty. (Hanwha Vision)

  • Still can’t find the camera on the network: give it a minute, ensure PoE/power is good, run Wisenet Device Manager, or temporarily set your laptop to an IP range that matches the camera’s default (per your model manual). (Network Webcams)
